Be Prepared for Wildlife Photography

I love Wildlife Photography

Taking pictures of wild animals in nature is probably the most
challenging photo subject there is. In order to find wildlife to photograph you must be very quiet and stealthy when you walk through the woods. You also must
cover your scent and try to blend in to the cover of the
foliage.

The animals that I have been blessed with being able to
photograph have been by sheer grace. I usually hike with my boys
who are nowhere near quiet when walking through the forests.
In order to take quality wildlife photos you must also have a
good lens of substantial quality. Sure, you can use a point and
shoot or a zoom telephoto lens, but get in to some low light
areas and you will find the quality and clarity of your images
reduces substantially.

A fast (f/3) or quicker lens that has a fixed focal length of
300mm to 500mm should be very sufficient. However, a good lens
of this quality is going to cost around $1500 or more. It is
worth saving your money to get the right lens if you are
determined to take good wildlife shots.

Not just anyone can take wildlife photography as it takes a
certain individual with lots of patience and determination to
find the subject you are in search of. Whether it is bear, deer,
turkey, coyotes or bobcats, your patience will be rewarded with
some of the most beautiful images you can imagine if you are
prepared.

This photo of a fawn in the grass was actually taken in my yard
one morning. Something small caught my eye lying in the grass.
When I realized what it was I shook with anticipation of getting
this shot. This is when I first started taking nature pictures
and I was very excited.

It was just by grace that I was able to take this shot. I look
forward to seeing other scenes like this in the future, and I am
getting prepared. I hope to share more images like this soon.
