West Virginia – A Unique Place for Nature Photography

Written by: www.ForestWander.com
West Virginia is a very unique place that is perfect for nature photography. Nature Photography covers several different facets. Wildlife, Landscapes, Floral and Foliage as well as Scenic skies

With the abundance of Wildlife including deer, turkey, bear, wildcats and other wild animals wildlife photography opportunities can be found all over West Virginia some choice professional photographers of the east coast frequent West Virginia to capture wildlife in it’s RAW form.

The Mountain state also offers some of the greatest landscapes man’s eyes have ever seen. When you stand on the top of Spruce knob and look all around you see some of the most majestic mountains that the east coast of America can offer. For miles you can see the vast rolling mountaintops and the wide open sky’s. With Beautiful rolling farm fields and thundering high towering waterfalls there are so many outstanding landscape sights to see in West Virginia that you must see for yourself in order to believe it.

The wildflowers in West Virginia are second to none. From the high mountain varieties of Dolly Sods to the carnivorous insect eaters of Cranberry Glades West Virginia has some very beautiful and unique plants that cannot be found anywhere else on the eastern coast. I have included a link to the West Virginia State parks Monongahela guide to the flower blooming schedule. http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/mnf/season/blooming_txt.html

The fall colors that light the mountain sides in West Virginia are exceptionally beautiful around October 14th. The trees that change the hills from a dull green come to life with bright brilliant reds, yellows, purple and orange. This gives the nature photographer a great opportunity to capture these colors but only for a short while as soon the leaves fall to the ground are are able to be captured again until the following year.

Some of the skies in West Virginia seem to go on and on and others are cut short because of the limit views that the high mountain tops limit. Whatever the case for your particular view on a partially cloudy evening the skies in West Virginia offer vivid and bright sunsets that captivate the imaginations of people young and old alike. At night when the sun sets and the skies are clear the stars in the night sky look as if you could reach out and scoop them from the Milky Way with a ladle.

West Virginia is not well known for anything other than Coal Mines. Well, I would just asoon it stays that way. I like the sleepy little towns like Davis and Thomas that offer down home country trust and friendliness. However for those of us who love nature and are careful about treading lightly I hope you enjoy some of the pleasures of paradise that our state which is term “Almost Heaven” has to offer.
