As I stood in the middle of the creek attempting to capture the essence of the fall foliage and creek scenery I noticed this small leaf floating by. My desire was to capture the rocks under the water, the leaf and the fall foliage in the background. Doing all this while standing on a rock about 10 inches wide must have been funny to watch!

An amazing wintry waterfall scene at Elakala waterfalls. This is the first time I have been here in the winter time. It is bitterly cold around 5 degrees. Every time I touch the metal on my tripod my hand sticks to it instantly. Although this shot is a little blurry from the blowing snow it still turned out rather well I think. Just the scene itself displays the bitter sweet beauty of the Lord’s creation even in the winter.

While standing on a rock in the middle of this forest stream, I attempted to capture the stream and fall tree colors surrounding us in this mountain gorge. Notice how clear the water is which is made possible with a circular polarized lens filter.

Early one morning after an autumn rain, fog surrounds the trees on this West Virginia lake. The serene early morning sights and sounds set the mood and lighting for perfect nature photography. There is a small duck in the water swimming this direction but cannot be seen in this photograph.

On a brilliant autumn day I happened to notice this mallard sleeping on a log in the middle of this cove. Can you see the lazy duck? He blends into the reflection very well. No doubt he certainly must feel safe out in the water like this. Amazing how wildlife adapts to their environment and makes the most from it.

Now most of the leaves have fallen from the trees, and although there are not many colorful scenes in the trees, there are still beautiful colors found in and on top of the water.

Late in the evening and with several miles to go uphill from the White Oak Gorge we are enjoying the beauty of this area. The water is wonderfully clear and the sounds of the waterfalls are very tranquil. Combine this with the surrounding fall foliage and landscape this is a literal paradise.

The cool autumn water rushes through this creek in the middle of a West Virginia forest. This water is leading to the blackwater river and creates a spectacular scene as it passes through the colorful autumn foliage.
