Nigh time at the tidal basin in Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival. You can see a helicopter coming across the area on the right side of the photo this gives you an idea of how long this exposure was in order to see all of this at night. Although you cannot see the trees very well it amazes me that the ambient light from the city makes it possible for the camera to see these trees.

Lightning strikes three times simultaneously in the night sky over Washington DC. A Cherry Tree is in full bloom on the left side of this picture. This photo was taken late at night and was a long exposure to catch the lightning and to be able to see the cherry blossoms at night.

Early in the morning viewing the autumn colors from the mountainside of Spruce Knob, WV. Here we are looking toward the western side of Spruce knob and the sun is just now rising behind us. The fall foliage scenery from up here is simply amazing in the late evening and early morning. Since there is no shade on the highest mountain in West Virginia the only way you can get subtle colors for photography is during an overcast day. Just over the hill is a little road where I have set and listened to my radio at night. Believe it or not I could pick up a radio station from Huntington West Virginia clear as a bell, which is about 200 miles away.
