We saw this old country barn in the mountains of West Virginia after hiking for a few days in a snow storm. I did not really feel like stopping for another picture but I am glad I did. Folks in the Mountains of West Virginia can be pretty firm in their candidates for office. Especially when it comes to coal. If you want to be a politician in WV you better like coal.

Late in the afternoon after hiking down into the bottom of this gorge (about 5 or 6 miles) we are blessed to see the further most lower falls of White Oak Gorge. This photo does not do the autumn scenery justice, it is truly a blessing to see the forest river flowing through the colorful autumn landscape, and it was well worth it.

Hiking down to some waterfalls, along the way we see Catawba Rhododendron flowers that line the trail. These flowers make the trail seem like a paradise in the early morning dew before the sun rises. These are one of my favorite flowers, and this time of year they line the mountain sides and trails.

On a spring morning my son and I were hiking through the Monongahela forest and found these small blue forest flowers every where. I wanted to get a shot with a higher aperture but the wind kept blowing. Nevertheless amazes me how these pretty flowers grow on their own… “Consider the Lilies of the field”

A Colorful Spring Forest Waterfall on an early spring season day. This is called dark hollow waterfalls and is just off skyline drive near Shenandoah Virginia. This is a great place to visit and I recommend hiking the waterfalls.

Hiking out a winter mountain trail after a heavy wet winter snow storm. This is a trail near the highland scenic highway in West Virginia. Rusty and I hiked about two miles out here, it was really beautiful and the snow was about 30 inches or deeper in many places. The sun shining on these trees gave a nice light for a scenic nature picture during our hike.
