Crabtree Falls Nc

This is at the amazing Crabtree Falls, NC. We made it to these wonderful waterfalls later in the evening after a full day of hiking. It is a little bit of a hike down a beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain trail. Fortunately it was just my boys and I for around an hour getting various perspectives of the waterfalls, so it was very peaceful. I literally stood in the water to get this perspective. I wanted it to seem as if the water would flow from the bottom of the picture.

Robber Fly Eating

I had never heard of a robber fly and I mistakenly called this a dragon fly. But never the less this is one of the most vicious looking insects I have ever seen. Especially when magnified at a macro level. Wondering what that is beneath it? It is a moth it has captured and eating. This insect stayed perfectly still as long as I was taking pictures of it. Then when I moved away it fly off. Not sure if it was just being bold or trying to go undetected.

Ugly Dragon Fly

Saw this ugly dragon fly today just as I began to take some pictures near a pond. It landed right in front of me with a big moth in its clutches. It is amazing to see something so intricate at this level of magnification. How could anyone deny our creator and His glory and believe nature simply just happens.

Little White Country Church Summer

A Little White Country Church we found in the Summer time. driving through Virginia on our way to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina we passed this little white country church. Looks like a peaceful little community home town USA.

Forest Mushrooms

Forest Mushrooms found amongst the leaves on the forest floor in the summer time. Not sure of the type these mushrooms are, but the fact that there are many around which are molded and decaying leads me to believe that not even the animals will eat them. This is a good indication that they are poisonous.

Forest Trail

Hiking through a high mountain trail at Mount Mitchell North Carolina. This hiking trail is on top of the highest mountain peak east of the Mississippi river. The high mountain fog is drifting through the trees in the middle of the day. The turn in the path up ahead makes one wonder what could be around the bend.

Crabtree Waterfalls

One of the most scenic waterfalls found along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. The Crabtree Falls are a beautiful sight to behold after a moderate hike down the hiking trail to see these picturesque waterfalls. You may be able to tell that the day light was growing dim in the evening hours when we took this picture. This made the long exposure optimal.
