Marsh Marigold

A marsh marigold found in the cranberry glades wilderness in West Virginia. These little flowers love wet places and are prolific in the marshy wetlands of the cranberry glades botanical area. These are among the many flowers found in this unique area of the Monongahela forest.

Whitetail Deer Family Winter Snow

A family of white tail deer in West Virginia. The doe deer is certain startled when she recognizes my presence. When their tail goes up like her’s is this signals that something is wrong and they are scared. I think the buck male deer could care less, he is just interested in the female!

Winter Waterfall Ice Snow Rocks

A winter waterfall deep in a ravine in West Virginia. The water is particularly high right now because of all the snow and rain we have been getting. Although this picture may look peaceful it is anything but quiet right here. The water is very loud but that in itself helps to drown out the noise of everyday concerns and worries. This waterfall is about 25 feet high although it may not look like it from the pictures.

Waterfall deep in a ravine which pours into the New River Gorge in West Virginia. This creek has actually been used for extreme kayaking. It would certainly take a daring and adventurous heart to Kayak down this rugged creek considering the jagged rock edges and steep drops over the waterfalls.

Mountain Sunrise Sky Blue Hue

High atop Spruce Knob the highest point in West Virginia during an early morning sunrise. This is one of the most beautiful times of the year when the colors of the sky show many variations in tint and hue. This is due to the angle of the sunlight entering the earths atmosphere. There is nothing like watching the sun rise from up on this mountain. The view is spectacular.
