GRANVILLE — The Licking Park District recently announced the winners of its first Exposing Our Heritage Photography Contest. Twenty-six photos were entered into four adult categories: Park District Scenes, General Nature, Animals and Cultural Heritage.

A Father and Son nature photography team have been nominated as finalists

In the ‘2007 Best Places we Protect’ nature photography competition sponsored by the Nature Conservancy.
Cross Lanes, WV – Troy and Rusty Lilly from Cross Lanes, West Virginia just outside of the state capitol of Charleston, West Virginia captured the below image at Elakala Waterfalls in September 2007. The father of the father and son team states “The water was low from the recent drought, which is why the whirlpool was low and swirling slow enough to be photographed”.

Photography class can bring nature into focus

Adam Bell would be the first to tell beginners there’s more to photographing nature than walking outside and pushing the shutter. Bell will present the third session in River Bend Nature Center’s Adult Education Series Monday. He will offer tricks and tips for bringing nature into focus through the art of photography.

Photography has changed profoundly in the last 15 years. For a while it looked as if digital techniques would completely replace more traditional ones. While that is exactly what has happened in consumer and commercial media photography, contemporary fine art photography has instead blended digital with more traditional processes.
