My son and I saw the worm eating some wild flowers in the yard. Makes an interesting macro shot.

I had never heard of a robber fly and I mistakenly called this a dragon fly. But never the less this is one of the most vicious looking insects I have ever seen. Especially when magnified at a macro level. Wondering what that is beneath it? It is a moth it has captured and eating. This insect stayed perfectly still as long as I was taking pictures of it. Then when I moved away it fly off. Not sure if it was just being bold or trying to go undetected.

Forest Mushrooms found amongst the leaves on the forest floor in the summer time. Not sure of the type these mushrooms are, but the fact that there are many around which are molded and decaying leads me to believe that not even the animals will eat them. This is a good indication that they are poisonous.

I found this giant Jack o Lantern mushroom at the base of this large oak tree. This mushroom is literally 15 inches across and theoretically will glow in the dark somewhat once the sun sets. The scientific name is Omphalotus olearius and the unique property of glowing in the dark is called bioluminescence. Similar to the ability that a firefly has to glow at night.

Late one evening in Washington DC our country’s capitol, we watch as thunderstorms roll across the background over the City. Lightning flashes over the Monument and the Jefferson memorial. Around the edges you can see the Cherry trees in full bloom.

A hidden waterfall enlightened by heavenly beams divine. Everyone needs a secret place to get alone and consider the very most important areas of life and our existence. Often the cares and concerns of this life distract our frail minds from the truths of our eternal destiny. Where is your “Secret Place”? Although you may not always be able to retreat to a different circumstance or location there is a secret place given from above that is available to all who will enter. Matthew 6:6 and Psalms 91:1

A bitter sweet site across the many beautiful graves at Arlington National Cemetery. The new life of the spring trees reminds us that one day the dead in Christ will rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them, to meet the Lord in the air!

Nigh time at the tidal basin in Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival. You can see a helicopter coming across the area on the right side of the photo this gives you an idea of how long this exposure was in order to see all of this at night. Although you cannot see the trees very well it amazes me that the ambient light from the city makes it possible for the camera to see these trees.
