The Mountain tops are changing color in this autumn foliage picture of the Blackwater Canyon in West Virginia. Notice how the tops of the mountains are showing autumn color while the lower portions are still green. Not often this is captured in a single image.

Heavenly Sunlight in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Looking across the Bluestone Lake valley from a remote mountain hilltop view. This is such a beautiful and serene place I would love to stay here all evening. Bluestone is a great place for fishing and just got back from fishing down below at bull falls camping area.

No wonder these are called the Blue Ridge Mountains. Early in the morning from one of the highest peaks this picture was taken in subdued sunlight thanks to the overcast clouds. This reminded me of our the song AMERICA – “O beautiful for spacious skies,: For amber waves of grain,: For purple mountain majesties: Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee”

As we are driving through the Blue Ridge Parkway we happen across this beautiful scenic country farm. The early morning light gives an opportune moment for us to capture a few shots of this wonderful scenic Blue Ridge Mountain View.

All around us the fall foliage is changing. As you can see across the tops of the mountains the colors highlight the ridge tops. It will not be long and these mountains will be a glow with the fall foliage colors.

Autumn colors changing in the high reaches of the West Virginia mountains. At elevations above 4000 feet the fall leaf colors are at peak color change, however, when one can see the entire mountain range as we can here at table rock, we can see the trees at the lower elevation have yet to change.

As we look across the valley to the mountaintop on the other side. We can see that the fall colors are changing on the tops of the mountains. However, further down the mountain the tree leaves are still green. This is unique for the fall foliage color change.

Out a hiking trail in Canaan Valley West Virginia a place called table rock offers a spectacular view of the Blackwater River Gorge. As we look around the beautiful mountains we can see that the tops of the mountains have changed colors already while the lower elevations in the mountains still remain green. This is a uniquely interesting variation in the autumn trees color.

Autumn Mountain Foliage along the Highland Scenic Highway. Overcast days are the best time for fall foliage photography. The elevation on this highway is around 5000 feet above sea level and is a beautiful place to drive in the autumn season.
