Mountain Cougar Snow Falling

A Mountain Cougar in the snow during a winter snow storm. The snow flakes are gathering on this mountain cat’s back during this recent snow storm. She is certainly looking at me closely with apparent disdain for my attention toward her.

Black Bears Sleeping Snow

A couple of black bears using one another for warmth in the middle of a snow storm. I actually made some noise so that they would look my way. Although they certainly are not going to make any effort to get up in this kind of weather.

Autumn Foliage Forest Creeks

At the bottom of the White Oak Canyon we found some of the most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen just above these forest creeks. Here there are two mountain streams which meet together in the forest. The autumn foliage in the lower part of the gorge is still very vibrantly colored.

Otter Coming Out Den Winter Snow

A large otter is coming out of his den in the winter snow. typically otters stay in their den most of the time throughout winter, unless they are disturbed or need food. I was blessed to be able to see this large otter out of his den this winter day.

West Virginia Grist Mill Autumn

In the old days there were many grist mills throughout West Virginia. The grist mill at Babcock state park, West Virginia is a type of tribute to all of the grist mills, which used to thrive in the old days. Unlike many grist mill landmarks, this one actually grinds and it is possible for park visitors to actually purchase cornmeal as well as buckwheat.

Alluring Cascades Pirouette

Everything was made to give praise and glory to the Lord. This alluring waterfall cascade is no exception. What is a Pirouette? It is a French word used to describe a twirling ballet dance. Just as this waterfall whirlpool dances before the Lord to His glory and praise.

Buffalo Herd Grazing Grass Winter Snow

Large Buffalo feeding on some hay in the middle of winter. The American Indian lived from the meat of buffalo throughout the winter. Their hide also gave them clothing many other useful things. These are large animals and one should not get to close, just as a large bull.

Cascade Falls

After a two mile hike through some of the most beautiful autumn scenery I have ever seen, we arrived at the lower cascade falls. These waterfalls are a magnificent site and as you can see offer a wonderful swimming hole at the below.

Wv Heavenly Sunset Farm Scene

As the sun is setting across this country field in West Virginia, the sunlight brings the storm clouds to life. This is one of my favorite pictures as it has many areas of interest. The sky displays heavenly clouds, the barns and farm buildings add an area of wonder and intrigue, while the flowers and field give a feeling of peace and comfort.
