At over 1 mile high on Grandfather Mountain, the clouds float past the top of this mountain. The scenery up here is amazing and there are views in almost every direction. There is a trail that leads to the peak of this mountain top. I imagine the view is even more beautiful up there.

Looking across the high Shenandoah Mountains from Skyline drive. It is easy to see why this is called skyline drive. Before the leaves come upon the trees the view is much more open and clear. We can see nearly 60 or 70 miles from up here.

Beautiful Waterfall Cascades among moss covered rocks. If you zoom to 100% on this image you can see great detail. 50% may actually be the optimal setting. We love finding and photographing waterfalls.

A rural country farm on a steamy summer evening. across the field you can see old fashioned country barns and some cattle in the field grazing before the night sets in. Above the clouds reflect rich red, yellow and orange hues from the summer sun.

Black Bear setting outside of his den in the summer sunshine. This looks like a healthy bear and no doubt he has put on some weight probably getting ready for the upcoming season change.

During the rain showers we gathered under the canopy of trees so that I could take some pictures. These falls are so high that I could barely fit them into the frame. I am shooting this at 28mm which is pretty wide. These waterfalls are 150 feet high and are fed from a mountain spring just above us on the mountain ridge. That is why they are called falling springs waterfalls.
