Winter Wolf Snow

Winter Wolf Snow

Here comes a big timber wolf headed right for me. I am low to the ground bundled up in my jacket and camera gear and I have tried to stay still and motionless for a long time so he does not get spooked. This wolf keeps pacing all around as if something is wrong. I heard from a DNR employee that this wolf’s mate died this past summer so that is probably why it is so restless.

Winter Waterfall Ice Snow Rocks

Winter Waterfall Ice Snow Rocks

A winter waterfall deep in a ravine in West Virginia. The water is particularly high right now because of all the snow and rain we have been getting. Although this picture may look peaceful it is anything but quiet right here. The water is very loud but that in itself helps to drown out the noise of everyday concerns and worries. This waterfall is about 25 feet high although it may not look like it from the pictures.

Snow Covered Wildcat

Snow Covered Wildcat

This snow covered wildcat is sleeping under a blanket of snow. This bobcat has a thick coat of fur to help keep it warm. It does not want to even stir from its cozy little hole where it is sleeping the winter away.

Bald Eagle on Black

Bald Eagle on Black

A high resolution wildlife picture of a Bald Eagle with a black background. This photo is very high detailed with nearly flawless focus and crisp sharp quality. If you look at this as the full size you can actually see each feather quill and the details of each feather of the Eagle. This predatory Bird is amazing and rightly deemed the symbolic bird of the Great United States of America.

Whitetail Deer Buck Snow Falling

Whitetail Deer Buck Snow Falling

A beautiful whitetail Buck Deer with a large ten point rack trotting through the snow in the forest. This deer certainly sees me and is very alert to what is going on. Although it does not seem to be scared at all. believe it or not a deer this size can be quite aggressive if it is threatened and can be dangerous if you do not have a gun or other means of protection. Believe me antlers that size and long points like that are not for playing around. This wildlife picture would make a beautiful piece of nature wall art for your den!

Timber Wolf

Timber Wolf

A large brown and grey timber wolf sees or smells something in the Forest. He is looking hard in that direction. I am hiding in an area that he keeps walking past. If he knew I was where I am he would not be this close. These animals are very smart and excellent hunters in the wild.

Bobcat Snow Covered

Bobcat Snow Covered

An older bobcat in the snow. The snow has covered this bobcat’s back after a heavy downpour of snow in the mountains. This is an older bobcat and is not nearly as on edge as the other bobcats in this area. This wildcat’s fur is very thick to keep it warm through the cold winter months.

Mountain Lions Winter Forest Snow

Mountain Lions Winter Forest Snow

Two Mountain Lions in the winter forest after a snow storm. These predator cats are obviously very well fed but never the less I would not want to get too close to them during feeding time. There are very few if any documented cases of wild mountain lions in the forests of West Virginia.
